Things to do in Ojochal

1.  Enjoying the Beaches

Although there are several things to explore when in Costa Rica, South Puntarenas, the beach is a fantastic place to start. Tourists should look for locations with the word “Playa” in the name, such as Playa Uvita, Playa Ventanas, and Playa Pinuela. The term “playa” is Spanish, meaning “beach.” Each of those listed has distinguishing qualities that attract tourists.

Playa Tortuga is another top destination, as it can be reached only by waiting for low tide. Others offer surfing opportunities for beginners or coastal reefs that are ideal for snorkelling.

If you’re interested in exploring marine caves, go to Playa Ventanas, which translates to “windows.” This beach has a hole cut into the rock by the water, and it creates a great ‘window’ to gaze through when the tide is low. This beach is gorgeous beyond this window, with plenty of parking and space to explore.

2.  Extreme Adventures

When guests are ready to venture beyond the beach, many exhilarating activities will get their pulse pumping. A thrilling zip line trip is ideal for people who want to soar amid the treetops and see the diverse species in the canopy. Or do you prefer to have your feet firmly planted on the ground? Consider taking a guided all-terrain vehicle trip through the country’s diverse landscapes.

3.  Animal Exploration

Costa Rica’s tropical environment supports hundreds of bird species, enough to keep bird enthusiasts pointing at trees and taking photographs for days.

The neighbouring region of Ojochal is no exception. Tourists may enjoy abundant bird viewing and discover the mini-ecosystems that occur in the mangrove forests that develop on the ocean’s edge within a short drive. Rope trees flourish in salty water and attract the various animal, marine, and birdlife.

4.  Waterfall Oasis

Cascada El Pavon, located a few minutes from Ojochal, is a modest but magnificent waterfall with an excellent bathing pool at the bottom. Visitors may cool down in the shadow of a massive boulder dangling in the gorge above the waterfall. The location is hardly busy and does not need a long trek to access. The hidden gem is a great place to spend a lazy Costa Rican afternoon.

5.  Countless Adventures

Of course, Ojochal is well situated to serve as a base camp for day trips in the surrounding region. In addition, tourists may wish to visit the area’s national parks and reserves to see more of the local animals.

Marino Ballena National Park, for example, is located on the coast and is an excellent place for spotting dolphins and whales offshore or swimming amid coral reefs. Meanwhile, Corcovado National Park has a broad range of natural flora and fauna that are believed to be among the most diversified in the world. During the park’s several hiking trails, visitors may expect to encounter monkeys, tapirs, jaguars, and macaws.
