Residency Costa Rica
Tane
Hi Shawn,
I am Kiwi/Aussie. Partner is an Aussie, too. There’s a 3-month visa-free access policy, but the plan is to settle down for a couple of years, hence rentista, or investments option.
Yes, that is correct then you need to apply for residency once your here or you can start the process from afar. I would start when you are here as once you start and are in the process you can stay without the requirement to leave. also, many tourists stay here for years really not legally but super common they go to the border and check out and check in to the country on the same day. I don’t recommend it because it could change anytime and become more strict. Just make sure when you get here you have all your documentation in order and they are current or you can get them when needed for your country.
Processing to approval can take up to 8 months or so.
