The house overlooks the Marina Ballena National Park and the world-famous Whale’s Tail sandbar formation. It is truly a one-of-a-kind home, not only for it’s location but also for it’s design! This distinctive home is an award winning design and is sure to impress anyone that lays eyes upon it. Surrounded by many impressive mature trees, the home is often referred to as a true piece of art. With its true open concept design, you will be refreshed by constant ocean and mountain breezes, with no need to flip on the existing cooling fans.
The property is surrounded by mature trees and dozens of acres of lush Costa Rican jungle. You will see all of Costa Rica's wildlife on or nearby this unique property. Scarlet Macaws, Toucans, and countless species of tropical birds, mammals, and butterflies are frequent visitors to the house, patio and surrounding trees. This home is entirely constructed with TEAK – a durable, weather resistant and termite resistant material. The outside walls consist of 80 doors with mobile louvers of between 3 and 4.5 meters in length, and 6 meters in height! The house responds to its surrounding humid tropical habitat through passive climate control, and it does so by taking advantage of its special location: natural ventilation is provided by the sea and mountain breezes, and solar shading is gifted by the towering mature trees.
The inclined façade panels can be opened or closed individually in order to regulate house views and fresh air exposure, increase or reduce air flows, or create privacy and security. The panels blur the line between interior and exterior spaces, playing with the dynamic between the surrounding nature and the built environment – this is one of the key features of effectively designed tropical architecture. The house is designed with two large bedrooms, and 2 lofts that can be easily converted into bedrooms with full bathrooms, one of each has already been realized. The stunning outdoor terrace connects to a large gazebo with a bar, running water, a fridge and a barbecue.
This home is the perfect location for a sunset party that leaves your guests in awe as they relax on the 2 floating hammocks that are incorporated inside the deck. The 22-meter lap-pool incorporates an infinity edge, blending the pool seamlessly into the nearby ocean vista. The pool lights can be adjusted to 8 different colours, creating a perfect ambience for every occasion. For those that want to dream even bigger, there is an adjacent space to build 2-small villas, each with their own pool, offering the same outstanding views and jungle experiences as the main house.
