Location – This property sits on the edge of a hill suspended at the edge of the Valle de Coto Brus. The Talamanca Mountains rise to over 7000 feet across the valley, and, directly to the east, Volcan Baru presides over all, reaching to over 10,000 feet. The valley between the mountains and the property is filled with the many small and large coffee farms and cattle ranches, interspersed with remnants of the original pre-montaine forest that covered the entire area 100 years ago.
Forest – Natural reforestation on the property began in the mid-1990s. Seven years ago extensive plantings of hardwoods began, and to date over 2000 trees have been added to the forest. As a result, the forest is changing and becoming more mature. The bird and mammal populations have increased, by species as well as numbers. On-going bird banding research project on the property is in its 12th year.
There is also a car available, with less than 80,000 miles, in excellent condition.
