COMFORT AND ACCESSIBILITY To reach this hidden sanctuary one should be reasonably fit. The journey involves crossing a river on foot and traversing paths on foot for 20 to 30 minutes. We highly recommend wearing ankle-covering boots for jungle exploration! It’s advisable to bring items like medications, in carry bags.
In this setting where there are no neighbors for half a kilometer you can enjoy the tranquillity interrupted by the gentle sounds of the river and the chorus of jungle creatures. It is advisable to carry a headlamp when exploring the trails. The area is home to expansive rainforests, like those found in Corcovado National Park, which supports an array of plant and animal life. RIO PIEDRAS BLANCAS Follow a path from the house to reach the Piedras Blancas River—a spot that feels straight out of a fairy tale. Immerse yourself in its turquoise waters while being serenaded by hummingbirds and other captivating creatures (a 3 5 3-5-minute stroll).
WATER The drinking water originates from a spring up in the mountains. A 2500-liter tank positioned near this source—750 meters away from the house—is connected via a pipe to ensure the water supply at Fairytale House.
The water here is fresh, with pressure making it perfect for drinking. It’s like sipping on rainwater straight from the wild jungle!
ELECTRICITY All the wiring and light fixtures are set up; all that’s left is to install your panel system. You could also consider adding a diesel generator or harnessing power from the river for eco-friendly electricity! Keep in mind that there’s no city electricity service at this location.
WIRELESS While there’s no WiFi in the house you might catch a signal occasionally with Kolbi. You can also opt to set up a STARLINK antenna on the tree for better connectivity above the treetops!
HOUSE MAINTENANCE ($) Services like roof cleaning to prevent rust, trail maintenance, upkeep of the water system, pest control, gas tank replacement, delivery services, and cleaning come at a cost.
BIODIGESTER SYSTEM The house features a biodigester toilet system—a sanitation solution that treats waste while minimizing its environmental impact. Human waste (, without toilet paper) is collected in a biodigester tank.
Inside the tank, waste goes through rocks to filter it. When microorganisms are added they help break down the solids turning them into water that returns to the Earth.
