Tinamastes is one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful towns, surrounded by lush tropical greenery. Being here gives you the impression that you are a part of a typical Costa Rican neighborhood. Our community is a mix of ex-pats and Costa Ricans. We live just a few minutes from the main highway, but far enough away that we don’t hear the traffic. We are about 20 minutes from the beautiful beaches of Dominical,  with a hip and funky surfers’ town vibe. We are also about a 30-minute drive from San Isidro, a medium-sized Costa Rican city with a wide range of stores, doctors, and other services.

We’re also only about 15 minutes away from the famous Nauyaca Waterfalls, one of Central America’s largest and most dramatic waterfalls. We live in the Diamante Valley, which offers breathtaking views of mountain ridges, changing cloud formations, lush greenery, and the Diamante Waterfall.

Every Tuesday morning, within walking distance of our house, the Tinamastes farmer’s market, one of the country’s’syou’llIt’sRica’sgarden’sRica’strfarmer’sst and most active organic farmer’s markets, takes place. A bus stop is also within walking distance of the house. (Please keep in mind that we are in a very mountainous area, and walking anywhere necessitates climbing and descending steep inclines.) The weather in the mountains is consistently 75 – 85 degrees Fahrenheit, noticeably more relaxed than at the beach. As a result, toucans are frequent visitors to our yard!
